Latin America Employment Law
Whether a single-country employment law matter, or a complex cross-border employment law project spanning Latin America in its entirety, our dedicated employment lawyers are highly experienced handling matters in virtually every country in this diverse region and globally.
HOW WE HELP
Seyfarth’s International Employment Law practice works with multinational clients on their cross border and multi-jurisdictional needs in Latin America, especially on large employment projects and transactions that span the entire region—and beyond. Our team includes lawyers who are fluent in English and Spanish and understand the varying business environments and local cultural differences.
Notably, we service our clients' needs using a different international model from most law firms. In particular our differentiated service model utilizes an experienced central point of contact for all international employment matters in Latin America and elsewhere globally, and it leverages a series of long-standing and reliable relationships with local counsel who are the top employment lawyers across the world. Our differentiated model has been developed over a number of years and is very well-tested by some of the largest companies.
Recent examples of our work across Latin America include:
- Completed a massive workforce restructure, covering 152 countries, including Latin America in its entirety. We advised our client regarding the implementation of successive collective redundancies, plant closures, and outsourcing and spin-off transactions.
- Advised on timekeeping practices and legal requirements for one of the world’s largest retailers throughout its international operations, including in Canada, Latin America and Asia.
- Assisted numerous multinational companies with their employment expansion plans, structure and implementation approach across the Americas, on a single and multi-country basis.
- Reworked various large multinational companies’ offer letters/employment agreements, employment policies and handbooks across Latin America.
- Advised on the issues with long-term individual contractors across Latin America, including risk minimization strategies.
