"Giving back to our communities through our pro bono, community service, charitable giving and sustainability programs is part of Seyfarth’s DNA. I am immensely proud to lead these efforts for the firm."
More About Ashley
After practicing labor and employment law at Seyfarth for just over a decade, Ashley accepted the firm's offer to assume the role that is dedicated to overseeing all the different ways that Seyfarth gives back to our communities. In this position, Ashley leads a multifaceted program that includes pro bono legal services, charitable giving, community service, and sustainability.
Ashley believes that attorneys have an ethical and moral obligation to use their special skills to help those who otherwise would not be able to afford legal help. She identifies opportunities for the firm's attorneys to volunteer their services, works with legal aid organizations to address legal needs of low-income individuals and community groups, and creates meaningful partnerships with corporate clients on joint pro bono projects.
Seyfarth's pro bono program includes serving low-income individuals in areas such as housing, immigration, family law, domestic violence, government benefits, and life planning, as well as providing community groups with both advice and litigation support in a range of subject areas, including employment, real estate, corporate, employee benefits, and intellectual property. Ashley helps match volunteer attorneys with opportunities and also helps legal aid organizations place matters with the firm. She also will advise corporations seeking to build or grow their own pro bono programs by helping them develop, implement, and execute pro bono initiatives within any business constraints they may have.
In addition, Ashley oversees the firm's community service activities and manages the Seyfarth Shaw Charitable Foundation, through which attorneys and staff can request donations to qualified organizations on behalf of the firm. She works closely with the firm's attorneys and staff to identify local, national, and global community service and charitable giving opportunities in order to provide the greatest possible benefit to the communities in which Seyfarth does business and the greatest possible support of the volunteer efforts of the firm's attorneys and staff.
Ashley also helps to lead the firm's sustainability efforts, which include developing best practices with help from the Law Firm Sustainability Network, recognizing and promoting attorneys and staff in their conservation efforts, and committing to doing pro bono work through Lawyers for a Sustainable Economy.
