More About Emma
Clients face commercial disputes involving business and employment-related contracts, trade secret and noncompetition agreements, litigation and risk assessment, accidents involving product defects, or dangerous work environments. Before litigation, Emma counsels clients on risk management, pre-suit resolutions and negotiations, contract negotiations, and employee matters. In matters involving litigation, she represents clients in defending or prosecuting claims in trial or arbitration proceedings.
While Emma represents clients in other industries, her practice has a focus on energy and health care. She was born and raised in Houston ("Energy Capital of the World"), so she naturally gravitated toward the energy sector. Emma started her practice defending doctors, hospitals, and health care personnel in medical malpractice lawsuits, which provided her with a strong background in analyzing potential risk and matters for hospitals, physicians, and medical practices. For more than a decade, Emma has represented a large oil field services company that looks to her for most of their legal needs. In doing so, she has become knowledgeable in a variety of matters that impact or could potentially impact energy-related companies. Finally, Emma is also fluent in Spanish, which broadens her capabilities in any industry.
Emma is a trial attorney, and has tried more than a dozen cases to verdict in state court, federal court, and arbitration. This has provided her with the experience to assess risk, and speak candidly to clients about their chances at trial. She has the necessary negotiation skills to resolve a matter without a trial is in the client's best interest.
Emma loves that Seyfarth has many talented attorneys in different jurisdictions, which makes it incredibly easy to find someone for any problem clients face. She has never had to refer a client to another law firm regardless of the matter or jurisdiction.
