Nick advises fiduciaries, trustees, plan administrators, and service providers on plan design, compliance, and other matters related to employee benefit plans subject to ERISA.
More About Nick
Nick focuses his practice on advising corporate counsel, company executives, and HR professionals in all aspects of the employee benefit plans sponsored by their organizations. He advises retirement plan fiduciaries on their responsibilities under ERISA and regularly meets with investment and administrative committees to ensure they are fulfilling these responsibilities. Nick has worked extensively with for profit and non-profit organizations in many industries to structure benefit plans, and amend them, to comply with various federal laws.
Nick also advises trustees, plan administrators and service providers of multiemployer trust funds and other collectively bargained plans on issues such as compliance with the Affordable Care Act, plan design, withdrawal liability, trust administration, plan investments, fiduciary duties, QDROs, QMCSOs, and general compliance with ERISA, the IRC, federal labor law, and other laws affecting multiemployer plans.
Nick has represented numerous organizations in controversies before the IRS, DOL, and PBGC. He has negotiated the resolution of compliance issues for retirement plans through IRS remedial programs such as VCP, Audit CAP, and SCP. Nick has considerable experience in the DOL’s remedial programs such as the DFVC and VFC programs.
Nick has been named in Super Lawyers as one of Southern California’s "Rising Stars" for Law & Politics (Thomson Reuters) (2006-2007). Nick was selected by his peers for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America in the field of Employee Benefits (ERISA) Law (Woodward/White Inc.) (2019-2022).
Nick is a member of the firm's executive committee and compensation committee. He is also a member of Seyfarth’s Inclusion and Diversity team (I&D). He is also the co-managing partner of the Los Angeles - Century City office.
