Construction
Construction projects face many challenges, such as political uncertainty, financial constraints, schedule deadlines, design changes, and ongoing developments in law. Based on decades of diverse experiences, we are well-positioned to advise our clients on how best to manage and deal with such challenges.
HOW WE HELP
Throughout all phases of the construction process, we offer cross-disciplinary legal services for our clients in the construction industry, from developers, owners, governmental entities, REITs, sureties, and lenders, to architects, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers on both public and private projects. Our global experience extends to all facets of the construction process, where we represent clients on a wide variety of projects, including industrial, commercial, retail, residential, infrastructure, entertainment, hospitality, and energy projects.
Our work involves all aspects of the construction process, from project genesis through project closeout. At the outset of a project, we assist clients with a variety of issues, including project finance, project delivery methodologies, risk mitigation, insurance programs, and licensing. Our efforts, prior to and after construction commences, are targeted on improving project management and avoiding disputes that may interfere with the successful completion of a project. At all times, we are prepared to zealously represent our clients on a variety of construction issues, such as contract interpretation, work quality, delays and inefficiencies, unforeseen site conditions, design changes, and mechanic’s liens, stop payment notice, and bond claims.
Our collaborative construction industry group includes LEED-certified professionals, licensed architects, and counsel who have worked at various departments in federal and state government. We are experienced in the drafting and use of a wide variety of construction, design, and engineering contracts, including design-bid-build, design-build, engineer-procure-construct (EPC), construction management, and build-operate-transfer, as well as joint venture, teaming, and operation and maintenance agreements. We also handle some of the largest and most complex infrastructure and public-private partnership (P3) projects throughout the United States and internationally.
