Handbooks & Policy Development
Employers need proactive, skilled advice on the myriad of issues that arise daily in the workplace, from attendance and performance management, discipline, employee complaints, leaves and accommodations, paid time off and wage and hour issues, to the most complex and sensitive situations, including those involving the highest tiers of management. Businesses need counsel who will help them stay ahead of legal changes in the marketplace and address workplace realities and business needs. They need counsel that will ensure that existing policies and procedures are legally compliant and work to reduce litigation, and, when litigation occurs, aid in the defense of a lawsuit.
HOW WE HELP
We help employers of all sizes and varying footprints to ensure that they have policies and procedures in place that reflect their culture, business priorities, and that are compliant with existing rules and regulations to avoid the risks of litigation and related workplace challenges.
Our attorneys constantly monitor the ever-changing federal, state, and local employment laws impacting company policies and employee handbooks, serving as proactive partners in creating, reviewing, and maintaining customized, best in class strategic and compliant policies and handbooks. We provide template policies tailored to our clients’ specific needs, goals, and core values, and we help establish internal systems to efficiently implement those policies. We provide approachable and actionable training for key personnel and prioritize positive employee relations and enhanced productivity.
OUR SERVICES
We routinely work with clients to design and/or review applicable personnel forms spanning the entire range of human resources activities, including, but not limited to, applications; model offer letters; security data sheets for criminal history checks; consent forms for FCRA compliance; leave of absence forms to comply with the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)/Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements; performance appraisals; disciplinary action forms; reduction-in-force ranking forms; and the like.
The Handbooks & Policy Development team works with a wide range of clients with varying needs. Our clients with national operations sometimes prefer to have a “one size fits all policy” approach that will meet the toughest restrictions of even the most employee-friendly jurisdictions. Others go with a “one size fits most policy” approach. Yet other clients may benefit from customized policies or handbooks for each individual jurisdiction.
We assist clients with multi-state operations in a variety of industries, including national retailers, pharmaceutical companies, national hotel chains, major transportation companies, healthcare institutions, non-profit organizations, financial services, manufacturing and consumer goods, and insurance and consulting companies.
