Arren concentrates his practice in commercial real estate transactions. He is co-lead of Seyfarth’s Distressed Situations team and the pro bono chair of the firm’s Charlotte office.

Arren concentrates his practice in commercial real estate financing transactions.
Arren is heavily involved with distressed asset situations. He has worked on many loan workouts and restructurings. He is co-lead of Seyfarth’s Distressed Situations team.
Arren also represents lenders, developers, owners, and investors in a variety of complex real estate financing transactions. Additionally, Arren represents loan servicers in connection with a wide array of loan servicing matters, including transfer of ownership matters (such as non-permitted equity transfers and loan assumptions), property substitutions, and leasing-related matters.
Throughout his career, Arren has closed numerous acquisition, permanent, interim/bridge, construction, and mezzanine loans. He also has led teams that have closed over $1 billion in mortgage loans, secured by various properties around the country, many for securitization in the capital markets, and has worked on syndicated and participated loan transactions.
The pro bono chair of the firm’s Charlotte office and a member of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee, Arren has represented various nonprofit organizations in connection with leasing and other real estate matters, including a children’s museum, a ballet company, a dance organization, an organization that provides support services to children in need, and a group that encourages corporate philanthropy.

- Numerous additional loan assumptions involving, among numerous other properties, a mixed use building in Manhattan, a portfolio of campus apartments in Pennsylvania, hotels in Florida, Minnesota, Texas, Arizona, and California, shopping malls in Oregon, Utah, Florida, Maryland, California and New Jersey, a multifamily project in New York, an industrial building in Texas, a research facility in Massachusetts and numerous office buildings throughout the United States.
- Non-permitted equity transfer requests with respect to, among others, a six-loan, $92 million loan portfolio secured by 30 properties located around the country, a loan portfolio totaling over $1.6 billion secured by 22 shopping centers located in 11 states, a $6 billion loan portfolio secured by 44 shopping centers throughout the United States, a loan portfolio valued over $3 billion secured by over 40 office buildings throughout the United States, and a $98 million loan portfolio secured by five office buildings located in three states.
- A consent request for a non-permitted preferred equity investment with respect to an office building in Manhattan encumbered by a $110 million CMBS mortgage loan.
- Numerous other loan servicing (consent) matters for CMBS and portfolio loans involving, among other matters, land swaps, guarantor replacements, partial releases, equity transfers, property manager substitutions/sub-manager arrangements, easement and leasing matters (such as subordination, non-disturbance and attornment agreements and related reserve agreements), loan extensions and interest rate hedge substitutions.
