More About Lisa
Intellectual property assets are highly valuable to organizations, and are subject to complex and evolving laws. Clients look to Lisa for practical solutions to the legal, strategic, and business challenges presented by these intangible assets.
Lisa's practice focuses on litigation and client counseling, as well as domestic and international intellectual property disputes. She regularly handles matters on IP enforcement and anti-piracy, patent, trademark, trade dress, and copyright counseling. Lisa has been involved in mediations, arbitrations, and bench and jury trials in federal court. She has also handled various trademark proceedings before US Trademark Trial and Appeals Board, and is fluent in all areas of intellectual property protection.
Her experience, both representing companies enforcing their IP and defending other companies against IP infringement allegations, provides Lisa with unique insights about opposing parties' potential strategies. Having tackled IP disputes in the courts and before administrative agencies (sometimes simultaneously), she also has experience balancing the different processes, evidentiary rules, timing, and other relevant factors in these competing forums.
Lisa began her practice in IP protection almost three decades ago, before shifting to IP disputes. This experience provides her with an understanding of the gaps or errors that companies face when enforcing their IP or defending against IP infringement claims from third parties. Lisa has obtained eight-figure judgments in wide-ranging IP disputes, from anti-counterfeiting actions involving consumer products, to patent infringement focused on oilfield services.
At Seyfarth, Lisa enjoys working alongside attorneys who are as enthusiastic about IP as she is. Intellectual property touches every area of the law. Practicing in this area allows Lisa to work with many Seyfarth attorneys to both expand her knowledge of other substantive areas of law, and provide a holistic approach to her clients' needs.
Our Australian practice operates as Seyfarth Shaw Australia, an Australian multidisciplinary partnership affiliated with Seyfarth Shaw LLP, a limited liability partnership established in Illinois, USA.
